2005 Toyota Corolla needs new brake pads.?

I bought the toyota brake pads for my car but did not have the dealership put them on because they wanted to charge $275.00 to put them on.

Is it really a lot harder to change these than the ones on the older model cars before the anti-lock breaking system and such. I went to the library and copied the pages from the mannual on how to do it. It does look like there are a lot of little parts to remove to get to the pads. I've never worked on cars at all before. I have a few friends that have worked on the older cars and changed brakes but they say I shouldn't try it on a 2005. What do you think? If I took my car to some random shop to have them put on how much do you think I should be charged for a shop to install them for me?2005 Toyota Corolla needs new brake pads.?
Hi,

just don't go to Midas, their job is to SELL, and rip you off.

a dealership is higher-priced, but there is a trust factor.

find someone you know who knows and trusts someone with a shop or works in a shop, maybe they'll let you watch and you can do it next time.

Got any warranties on the car? check the fineprint about who can do repairs.

that's all i got

Probably $80 to $120, but who knows, mechanics rip people off so bad, who knows what they will charge. Just call one of them and ask first.

I've had lots of cars over alot of years, and I never had any problem, never seen a 2005 so I don't know, but it can't be that hard, but if you never done it before, might take you some extra time.2005 Toyota Corolla needs new brake pads.?
Why don't you tell us what exactly the $275 price included.. did it also include new disc rotors?

No mechanic is stupid enough to quote $275.00 to fit already supplied brake pads... it's a 30 minute job!

If you know somebody who can change pads in a 1985 Corolla, then they can also change pads in a 2005 Corolla, it's the same job.

Having ABS, etc means nothing, doesn't change the simplicity of the job.

p.s: Please disreagard the people of low intelligence who claim all mechanics rip you off... sure, a small amount might, but in general, they are fair like any other trades person!2005 Toyota Corolla needs new brake pads.?
quite easy

as long as you have the correct tools.

a good garage should have you fixed for about $60...2005 Toyota Corolla needs new brake pads.?
all you need is a 21mm for the wheels ,a 14 for the caliper ,a 17m for the caliper braket and a hammer to smack out the disc, lub the caliper pins alot with synthetic grease and its as simple as that
