You will need a hex wrench and I think a 12 mm combination wrench. There is a bolt like part on the back of the caliper that needs to be taken out to gain access to the retractor screw. When it is taken out, put the allen wrench in and retract it. After mounting the caliper back up, adjust the caliper and pads for a slight drag. How do i change the rear brake pads on a mazda 626 1999?
You can purchase a special tool to compress it or I've used an adjustable clamp but be careful you want the pressure to push directly into the pistons dead centre and you can damage or or chip the piston so be quite careful.

Sometimes I've disconnected the brake line so then the piston goes down with ease and all that needs is to bleed the system fully after wards.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if that vehicle is equipped with ABS brakes be sure not to get grease or dirt on the sensors or to put then out of alignment etc.How do i change the rear brake pads on a mazda 626 1999?
use a c clamp to push the piston back in. once it is in it should stay at that position for a while after you take it off and just pop the pad back in it proper spot. any auto store should have this little cheap tool that also works in doing this,
