How to properly change front brake pads on a 2003 silverdao 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive reg. cab v-6?

Does the ABS need to be disconnected? Never changed brakes on a vehicle w/ ABS.How to properly change front brake pads on a 2003 silverdao 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive reg. cab v-6?
no u dont have to disconnect the abs just do the pads as u would anyother car .......1. take off tires 2. use a big screw driver or pry bar and colapse the caliper piston by inserting it in the opening on top of the caliper, be careful not to scratch the rotor with the screw driver or pry bar, ans do not open any lines before doing this or at any time during the job 3. take off caliper by loosening the 2 bolts on back of caliper 4. remove caliper from rotor and remove brake pads 5. clean the hardware on the caliper and lube it with either a light coat of grease or non drying silicone 5 if u use non drying silicone then apply it to the new pads( prevents the squeaking noises brakes make 6 u may have to finish colapsing the caliper piston if u do use a screw driver and place it on the edge of the piston and push it in the caliper 7. then place the caliper back on the rotor lining up the holes in back for the retaining bolts on the caliper 8. do other side when one side is done.... dont compress both caliper pistons at the saome time it will overflow the master cylinder ..... good luckHow to properly change front brake pads on a 2003 silverdao 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive reg. cab v-6?
Unbolt the caliper and replace the pads. Remove the caliper mounting bracket if the rotors are to be removed and machined. How to properly change front brake pads on a 2003 silverdao 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive reg. cab v-6?
p.s. Dont forget to take off the brake master cylinder cap to relieve the pressure when you compress the caliper piston with the screwdriver. Or, if you have a big c-clamp, wait till the caliper is off and compress it then. Go slowly so you dont spray brake fluid on your hood and fenderwells, cause it will eat the paint off, guaranteed!!
