I just changed the front brake pads for my '02 VR6 Jetta. After putting everything back togetther, I found ou

...out that now I have to press the brake pedal all the way to the floor for the car to stop. It also comes with a %26quot;hissing%26quot; sound when I depress the pedal. Does it mean I have to take the front tires out again and repurge the brakes? How do I do it without having to bleed out all the brake fluid? Thank you so much.I just changed the front brake pads for my %26039;02 VR6 Jetta. After putting everything back togetther, I found ou
as with the other answer I do agree you probably are low on brake fluid and you may have not bleed the brakes properly if you do not have a vacuum bleeder for your brakes you have to make sure you push the brake pedal very quickly and repeatedly then push and hold the pedal hard as some one opens the bleeder nut and the pedal hits the floor do not let the pedal come up off the floor until the bleeder is tightened or you may suck air into the line if you did have a loose brake line you would loose all your fluid pretty quick but yes do check them all and make sure they are not leaking

also the power booster may be leaking but I doubt it very much if it was fine before the shoes where changed the hissing sound is probably Viacom from low fluid

hope this helpsI just changed the front brake pads for my %26039;02 VR6 Jetta. After putting everything back togetther, I found ou
Sounds like low brake fluid, yes you will need to purge air again. Also brakes may not be adjusted properly. Also check for any leakage at master cylinder lines etc and also the lines at brake housing at wheel.I just changed the front brake pads for my %26039;02 VR6 Jetta. Why did you bleed the brakes if you were doing a pad slap? Totally not necessary unless you were completely flushing the system.

One other option is that you could have twisted the brake hose when you put the caliper back on. That can cause a soft pedal.
